Prof. Maria Antonella Muraro is Professor of Food Allergy at the University of Padua and Consultant in Allergies at the Paediatric Department of the University Hospital of Padua. As of March 2005 is the Head of the Referral Centre for Food Allergy of Veneto Region in the North-Eastern part of Italy. Since 2015 she has been President of the European Academy of Allergology and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) www.eaaci.org previously holding the position of Secretary General (2013-2015) and Treasurer (2009-2013) . In the context of the EAACI she was Chair of the EAACI Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Guidelines for Clinical Practice published in 2014, and of the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis awareness Campaign run in Europe in 2013-2014

Dr. Muraro is powerful advocate for patients with food allergies. She has been lobbying at the EU level for raising the awareness of food allergy and allergic diseases as well as for promoting prevention and health-being of allergic patients. Furthermore she has been founder of the EAACI Patient’s Organizations Committee and works in close collaboration with Patient’s Organizations . She is on the medical advisory board of Italian organization , Food Allergy Italia www.foodallergyitalia.org

Dr.Muraro’s main research initiatives are dealing with evaluating new protocols for immunotherapy of food allergy, anaphylaxis surveillance programs, evaluating markers for identification of subjects at risk of anaphylaxis, characterization of major immunological determinants responsible for food allergy. In addition she is very active at the community level in developing protocols for educational intervention at the schools, restaurants and public places.

She is author of more 200 papers in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters.
